TILT’s Women’s Mobile Museum was a year-long residency and apprenticeship program in 2018 led by internationally renowned South African artist-activist Zanele Muholi in their first major US-based project. WMM was a collaboration between ten (10) women artists of different ages, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. Spanning multiple locations nationally and internationally, the artists took their projects on the road in a multi-neighborhood traveling exhibition that challenges social and economic barriers of the traditional art world and asks the question: Who is art for? The WMM Magazine features essays and interviews with the artists, curators and designers associated with the project.
Major support for the WOMEN’S MOBILE MUSEUM was provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, with additional support from by the William Penn Foundation and the VIA Art Fund.
