Our Members are the lifeline of TILT’s creative community. Image-making doesn’t happen in a vacuum, it takes everyone: enthusiasts, patrons, life-long learners, families and artisans.
Membership is fully tax deductible. Your support makes it possible for us to offer free programming & exhibitions, youth education, and discounted classes/workshops.
In line with our Community Agreement, we have implemented a pricing model that allows us to offer our benefits and services to more artists. This is but one step in our journey to become more equitable. In short, we invite everyone to self-identify their giving capacity and pay what they can afford. The sustainer tier creates a cushion for those with less financial freedom, the standard tier reflects our standard yearly rate, and the discount tier supports those with extenuating fiscal responsibilities.
A Members Only Makerspace
Need to print at 3am? Running out of space to work?
The Artist Lab is waiting for you. Get started today through our easy sign-up process, straightforward orientation, and 24/7 keypad entry.
There’s no one way to network. Unique opportunities are planned throughout the year for Members to connect, learn and be inspired at their own pace. Whether it’s intentional or spontaneous, with friends or solo, this is how the threads of our community come together.
Throughout the year we shine a light on a handful of Members via Member Spotlights in TILT’s Project Space. There is no formal selection process, Members share their interest and availability with the Membership Coordinator and the rest is magic. Members are given the freedom to mount a display in the corridor that connects the gallery to the Crane Arts Building. On the 2nd Thursday of the chosen month, we host a “Meet the Artist” reception for the participating Member right in the center of the action.
The spotlights are announced in our general and Member newsletters, as well as promoted across all of TILT’s social media outlets. We produce the graphics and signage in house and encourage the spotlighted Member to share the announcement with their personal and professional contacts. The spotlight runs for roughly three weeks in the Project Space and is accessible during the Crane Arts Building’s business hours.
Discounts: Members receive 10% off Fine Art Services and 10% off Classes. There’s no limit to the number of times your discount can be applied. Discounts are active the moment you become a Member, no waiting or trial period.
Member Consultations: A one-on-one conversation with TILT’s Membership Coordinator to discuss your goals and benefits. The consultation lasts about 30 minutes and takes place in the gallery or over Zoom. Members walk away with a better understanding of the resources available and how TILT can best support their creative journey. Email Hamilton at ihamilton@tiltinstitute.org today!
TILT staff are here to help guide you in your creative journey no matter your skill set. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn more about the printing process or a seasoned photographer hoping to complete work for exhibition, TILT’s team is here to answer your questions and guide your artistic vision.

Come and chill in the gallery, enjoy the dog days of summer with us. Music, air conditioning and an ice cold drink, preferably with a pineapple and tiny umbrella. Coladas are alcohol free and family-friendly. A little something extra for those 21 and up.
A great opportunity to sell your work and/or buy work from your fellow Members! Shop local, support our community, sip hot chocolate and repeat. What better way to kick off the winter season. Vendors must be Members.
7.11.2024 – 8.17.2024 / TILT Gallery
Our favorite time of the year. The gallery will be bursting at the seams with works from our talented community. Equal parts exhibition, reunion and party, this annual gallery show does not disappoint. Purposefully left open to interpretation, the Annual Members Show follows no theme, template or prompts. Members are encouraged to submit work that speaks to where they are and how they feel at the time of submission. All members are invited to exhibit at the members show.
September 2024 / Cherry Street Pier
This year’s Member Showcase will be prominently displayed in Cherry Street Pier’s gallery on the main concourse for the entirety of the festival. Technology has altered photography every year since its inception: The camera obscura sparked the idea of image making and evolved into a pinhole camera while the Daguerreotype made it into a physical object by exposing iodized silver plates. Changes in film and chemistry moved us from making calotypes to darkroom silver prints, color prints, digital prints and now images are created by AI. After every new stage of evolution, we adapt our practice and process by blending old and new technologies. This year’s 20/20 Photo Festival explores this evolution and influence of technology on contemporary photography by featuring artists and partnerships that reflect the creative collaborations happening throughout Philadelphia.
