Course Description:
In Photo I: Beginning Practice students will gain knowledge of the digital camera and lenses, and they will learn digital photography basics such as: how to use manual camera controls, manage a digital workflow, and basic color corrections. Students will also be introduced to different photographic genres each week, with an emphasis on photographic movements and individuals who have assisted with shaping the history of the medium. As they gain knowledge of historical significance in photography, students will complete assignments addressing primary photographic principles including light, color, and space. This course will provide students with a strong foundation on their way to becoming confident, thoughtful, and engaged image-makers. Aside from image-making and shooting, students will be required to complete short reading and writing assignments.
