Sonia Kahlon’s series of surreal self-portraits and animation explore the connections she feels with her surroundings. Sonia’s images are complex ecosystems that breathe, decay, feed, and communicate through a series of elaborate signals. They are part of a dark fairy tale influenced by her personal struggles with mental health and addiction.
Sonia Kahlon was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She is an orthodontist who sold her practice in 2016. She now dedicates her time to angel investing and teaching entrepreneurship to the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated. Sonia is a passionate mental health and addiction recovery advocate. She enjoys photography and baking in her free time.
