November 10–26, 2011
Opening Reception: NOV. 10, 6-9PM
The TILT Institute for the Contemporary Image will celebrate its second anniversary on October 28, 2011 with the second annual Philly Photo Day. In 2010 PPAC designated October 28 as Philly Photo Day and invited all Philadelphians to take a picture on the same day and submit it to PPAC. The event was a huge success and PPAC received over 320 photographs!
On Friday, October 28, 2011, everyone in Philadelphia is again invited to take a picture anywhere in Philadelphia, with a camera, a phone, or even a computer, and submit it electronically to The TILT Institute for the Contemporary Image. Every picture received will be printed and PPAC will hold an exhibition from November 10 – 26th. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, November 10th from 6-9 pm at TILT’s gallery in the Crane Arts Building.
Philly Photo Day celebrates photography as an art form and Philadelphia as a subject. Photography has the remarkable ability to preserve a moment, to communicate an idea, to simultaneously act as a document and a point of view, and to bring together a broad range of thoughts and ideas. For Philadelphia, this will serve as a diverse record of the city, through the eyes of its community members, at one moment in history.
