April 2 – May 2, 2021
Cherry Street Pier Gallery
121 N. Columbus Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19106
The Philadelphia Photo Arts Center is proud to present In the Commons, an exhibition featuring photographs by 26 PPAC members at the Cherry Street Pier Gallery in April 2 – May 2, 2021. The opening reception at Cherry Street Pier is Saturday, April 10 2021, 2–4 PM EST.
In the Commons refers to the resources that belong to all of us, and so must be cared for by all of us. The commons can be our natural resources like air, oceans, parks, or our social creations like libraries, museums, public spaces, scientific research, artistic works and cultural heritage. The exhibition engages a broad range of interpretations of this theme. In the Commons will consider the things we all have a stake in – to steward and protect, then hand to the next generation to do the same.
Cherry Street Pier is a year-round, mixed-use public space on the central Delaware River waterfront. Built into the shell of a century-old municipal pier, it is a reflection of Philadelphia today—creative, diverse, historic, adaptable, and inspired. Hours: Monday – Sunday, 12–8 PM EST.
PPAC Members featured in In the Commons are: Charles Andaloro, Gary Beeber, Don, Bell, Sheila Bodine, Austin Cuttino, Gerry Fisher, Lee Garcia, Lauren Gayeski, Marvin Greenbaum, Reed Gustow, John Hansen-Flaschen, Kelly Lynd, Michael Mergen, Patricia McElroy, Stanley Muravchick, Dove Nasir, Erin Nowak, Joseph Podlesnik, Claire Robinson, Ellen Rosenberg, Nate Schwartz, Nancy Sher, Loraine Terrell, Andrei Thomas-Tikhonenko, Jonathan Wilson, and Shelley Zion.
