Professional Practices in Photography (P-3)

New Certificate Program!

Deadline to apply: June 14, 2021

Professional Practices in Photography (P-3) is a new certificate program by the TILT Institute of the Contemporary Image to support photographic artists who are working towards building sustainable careers. All sessions will take place virtually over 16 weeks, on Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8:30 PM EST, June 30 – October 13, 2021.

P-3’s inaugural program is free and limited to 12 participants. Applicants must reside in the greater Philadelphia metro area. Selection is based on merit and need. P-3 is designed for photographers who are developing their career outside academia and with limited institutional support. PPAC recognizes the critical importance of business and career skills for emerging artists. We continue to develop opportunities for learning that prioritize access and excellence.

P-3 will be led by artist and curator Efrem Zelony-Mindell. The 16-week syllabus encompasses both general business skills and those specific to the business of photography, while helping each artist craft an individualized career and business plan. The Covid 19 pandemic has further highlighted the importance of professional skills for the working artist in a disrupted and unstable economic landscape. P-3 participants will learn a flexible, adaptive approach to their practice that can adjust to market interruptions.

P-3 will meet on Wednesday evenings for 16 consecutive weeks.

June 30th – October 13th, 6:30 – 8:30 PM EST

Attendance is required for all 16 sessions.
