Oh, Snap! fea. Heather Raquel Phillips

Deviance | Pleasure | Power | Failure

June 19, 2021
10:30 AM – 12:00 PM EST

Through moving images, textiles, photographs & objects, Phillip’s uses camp, dark humor, DIY & the art historical to explore belonging, sovereignty, rejection & power, while time-hopping through the past, present and future.

Heather Raquel Phillips (she/her-they/them) is a Philly artist, educator & independent curator. She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art & her MFA from Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania.  Phillips is a member of Pink Noise Projects, a board member of Leather Archives & Museum & curates the residential/public gallery Pinch-Hitter Projects. She teaches at The Lincoln University & The University of Pennsylvania. She has exhibited locally and nationally.

Oh, Snap! is a trans-inclusive space that welcomes all women and gender-nonconforming people. Photography provides a starting point, but the conversations sparked by Oh, Snap! are interdisciplinary and deep. No experience with photography is required; all participants need is an interest in the medium and a willingness to connect with other women/trans/nonbinary people who are passionate about the arts. Please contact coordinator Lori Waselchuk with any questions at lori@philaphotoarts.org.
