Thursday Night Photo Talk w/ Ken McFarlane & Andrea Walls

The View from Within

November 5, 2020
7 PM EST

A conversation about making “insider art,” where responsibility to the communities through which the artist moves is at the forefront of creative practice.

Ken McFarlane is a West Philadelphia based documentary and portrait photographer. He has over 20 years experience in commercial, editorial, documentary photography and filmmaking. His current body of work focuses on producing visual and audio histories of Philadelphians in the present as a means of documentation to preserve collective memory while encouraging future generations to remember, re-examine and realize their own potential.

Andrea Walls is a poet, photographer, and digital artist, deeply influenced by the work and energy of the Black Arts Movement. She is currently engaged in an ongoing project called The Museum of Black Joy, which is dedicated to the cultivation, exclamation, representation, and preservation of non-traumatic Black Life in Philadelphia and beyond
