Teen Photo 2019-20

June 1 – July 31, 2020

The tenth year of the Honickman Teen Photo Program culminates with an online exhibition featuring 17 Philadelphia high school students.

Teen Photo is a free afterschool program for Philadelphia public high school students. Students are provided with a DSLR camera, and meet weekly with friends and mentors. Over eight months, they learn to take, edit, and print photographs, experiment with forms and genres, and explore the city through museum visits and photo walks. As the teens expand their thinking both critically and creatively, they build confidence and develop a love of learning that helps them grow in every aspect of their lives.

This year of Teen Photo is the first not to end in a physical exhibition in our gallery. COVID-19 disrupted all our lives, but many Teen Photo students decided to continue exploring and expanding on their work in online virtual meetings. Through this virtual gallery, you can explore each artist’s body of work.

Prints of the images available for purchase. You may order an 8×10 print for the price of $25. The print sale will directly support the young artist and the Teen Photo program. If you would like to purchase a print, please email michelle@philaphotoarts.org.
