Closeness presents three projects by three PPAC instructors: Louise O’Rourke, Jill Galloway Sherman, and Anthony Wood. Each photographer explores closeness with images about home, family, time and intimacy.

Bios

Louise O’Rourke documents the work of professional artists practicing in a range of mediums including glass, installation, and painting. This career path started with Louise’s involvement in the arts community at Slippery Rock. Photographing work for friends grew into her passion: a passion to capture art as it is. O’Rourke received her B.F.A. with an emphasis in photography from Slippery Rock University and attended graduate school at Ohio University. Instagram: @discarded_mattresses

Jill Galloway Sherman, originally from upstate New York, moved to Philadelphia after receiving her M.F.A. in Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. For the past fifteen years, Jill has been working as an educator and artist throughout the Philadelphia area. Currently, Jill works as an Adjunct Photography Professor at Saint Joseph’s University, an Instructor at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center and a freelance photography consultant.  She received her B.A. from Hartwick College, with a concentration in sculpture and photography. Instagram: @gallowaysherman

Anthony Wood has been a freelance photographer in the Philadelphia area for over 30 years. He has worked in many areas of photography, including location shooting for editorial, corporate and non-profit clients, documentary photography and fine art photography. His work encompasses traditional street photography, portraits, and photo illustration. Tony’s work has appeared in shows at Highwire and at Level 3 and has been published in The Photo ReviewSports IllustratedForbesPhiladelphia Magazine and Smithsonian Magazine.
