A Conversation

October 1, 2021
3:30 PM – 5 PM

In this virtual talk, hear from artists who studied with Richard Benson, an extraordinary photographer, master printer, and mentor who helped shape many of the greatest photography books of the past fifty years. A panel, including artists John Lehr, Caitlin Teal Price, and Ka-Man Tse, will explore the impact of Benson on their practices in a conversation moderated by Peter Barberie, Curator of Photographs, Alfred Stieglitz Center, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA), and Sarah Stolfa, President, Chief Executive Officer, and Artistic Director of the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center (PPAC).

This program was organized in collaboration with the PMA and celebrates the opening of two exhibitions honoring Benson’s work and legacy: Object Lesson: The Legacy of Richard Benson at PPAC and Richard Benson: The World Is Smarter Than You Are at the PMA.
